Small Malaita Constituency has delivered another milestone in rural health development with the handover of a new clinic staff house to the Tawaro Community, led by MP Hon. Rick Hou. The project highlights a clear development narrative: strategic CDF investment, community participation, and improved frontline health services.

The new staff house—funded through the 2025 CDF budget with SBD $63,000 worth of building materials—directly addresses long‑standing accommodation challenges for nurses serving the Tawaro Clinic, which supports a catchment of more than 4,000 people. Timber and labour contributions from the community demonstrate a strong, practical partnership between villagers and the constituency office.
Leaders across the constituency and MRD emphasized that the project is more than infrastructure—it is a commitment to reliable healthcare, better staff retention, and sustainable rural development. Hon. Hou and MRD officials praised the community’s cooperation, noting that the initiative reflects the true purpose of CDF: improving livelihoods and ensuring development reaches rural families.

This handover reinforces the constituency’s ongoing efforts to strengthen essential services and showcases how shared responsibility between government and communities can deliver lasting impact in rural Solomon Islands.
