SINU Panatina Campus: Toilets Filthy and Smelly

ITS official – Solomon Island National University’s Panatina Campus – single ablution block has been described by a student as bad and smelly; needing urgent attention.

A concerned student, Margret Aumamua said that recently the situation is worse for day students studying under the Solomon Island National University’s (SINU) – Distance and Flexible Learning – Teaching Primary Learners program as they have only one ablution block at the campus.

In such a challenging situation, students’ consists of male and female are said to have now resorted to using the only one water system toilet to relieve themselves, something that worried concerned students in terms of their cultural norm, health, and safety.

“It is unhygienic as the high risk of spreading infection is possible. The ablution block needs upgrading and should be infection-free.”

Margret said the ablution block was in a filthy condition since the beginning of the 2020 academic year, however, the students have no alternatives.

“There is no way a university can operate with such filthy and smelly toilet.”

She however encouraged the top university staff to continue working to improve the current bad state of the ablution block and they should also create an environment in which the students can attain a more and healthy and friendly environment.

She revealed the damaged fibro walls of the ablution block also needs immediate renovation.
