Poster and Essay Competition in June

THE Community Based Resource Management (CBRM) Section in the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources is organising a Poster and Essay Competition for students to mark the World Oceans Day which will be celebrated in June this year.

This competition is open to every students in the Solomon Islands. The best three posters and best three essays will be awarded with prizes during the World Oceans Day 2019 celebration.

The theme is “Keep our ocean healthy for our healthy life” and students must show their ideas on how to maintain our healthy ocean for its sustainable use. Since the theme for WOD this year is “Gender and the Ocean”, posters and essays should also include a views of gender issue.

Those wishing to enter the competition are urged to call in at the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources to pick up information sheets including an application form.

A statement from the CBRM says they are anticipating good number of entries from the schools particularly those in Honiara.

“We expect a good number of students to participate and encourages girls to also participate in both the poster and essay competitions.

The competition will close on May 20, 2019.

Three attractive prizes are up for grabs in each of the categories. The overall winner in each category will receive 1st $2,000, 2nd $1,500 and 3rd $1,000.
