The North West Choiseul Constituency (NWCC) has formally acknowledged the Government of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) for a significant $100,000 livelihood support package aimed at strengthening essential community services across the constituency.

Constituency Development Officer Gabby Taniveke confirmed that the funding has enabled NWCC to procure solar power systems, deep freezers, electrical cables, and accessories, boosting renewable energy access for schools, clinics, churches, and rural families.
Beneficiary communities include:
- Vurango Community — Solar Power System
- Pirakamae Community High School — Solar Power System
- United Church Lauru Region HQ — Solar Power System
- Ukiki Community Clinic — Electrical cables and fittings for solar expansion, plus 5.2kW solar systems for two families

Taniveke said the assistance will improve lighting, strengthen community infrastructure, and ensure reliable clean energy for vital services. He described the support as a meaningful contribution that will benefit not only the listed communities but the wider NWCC population who rely on these facilities.
He also conveyed appreciation on behalf of Minister Hurry Kuma, NWCC communities, and the constituency office, noting that the gesture reinforces the strong friendship between Solomon Islands and the PRC.

The Ministry of Rural Development (MRD) echoed the gratitude, acknowledging PRC’s ongoing support to rural constituencies and reaffirming its partnership with the PRC Embassy in advancing national rural development programs. MRD encouraged constituency offices to manage the donations transparently to ensure maximum community benefit.
