New Compact Vehicles And Garbage Bins to HCC from China

THE Honiara City Council (HCC) has taken ownership of three new compact vehicles and 200 garbage bins from the People Republic of China (PRC) during a handing over ceremony held at the HCC compound last week.

“The event of officially handing over three vehicles and 200 garbage bin marks an important milestone in the diplomatic relation between PRC and HCC.

“It also marked the fruitful sister relationship between the Guangdong City of China and Honiara City in the Solomon Islands,” said Honiara City Lord Mayor Eddie Siapu.

He said during the handing over ceremony that the relationship was signed by the former City Mayor of Guangdong City and of Honiara City.

“I recognized the work done by the former Honiara City Mayor, Wilson Mamae, former City Clark Rence Sore, with Councillor John Szetu for requesting the compactor trucks and garbage bins from Guangdong City,’’ he added.

“In light of this recognition, let me say that the three compactors vehicles and 200 garbage bins will greatly support the garbage collection work of the City Council.

“The Donations will go a long way in the council’s aspirations of keeping Honiara city clean, healthy, and safe,’’ said Siapu.

In the Meantime, the HCC Mayor expressed that the donation is especially timely as we prepare for the PG2023.

The handing over ceremony was officially witnessed by the Chinese Ambassador to the Solomon Islands, His Excellency Li Ming, HCC City Mayor Eddie Siapu, and Councilors and representatives from the Chinese Embassy in Honiara.
