Auki Central Market Takes Delivery of New Tipper Truck

A new tipper truck have been added to the Auki Central Market fleet to aid in improved garbage collection in the Malaita provincial township.

The new vehicle, was funded by the Government of Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) though its partnership with UN Women M4C Project arrived last month in Auki, Malaita province.

Auki Central Market Manager, James Higi described the handing over ceremony of the new tipper truck as a historical one for Auki market.

“This is the first time in history for Auki central market to own a vehicle to assist the market management in managing the market. This vehicle will help in waste management in the market area.

“Now the market has proceed into the segregation and delivery of green wastes as manure for farmers Auki Township,” James said.

He later thanked DFAT for assisting UN Women Market for Change Project in purchasing the tipper truck for Auki market.
