A low-pressure system is developing over the waters between Makira and Temotu provinces.
This was confirmed to ENVIRONMENT MEDIA by a weather forecasting staff on duty this evening Sunday 5th February.
“A heavy rain and strong wind warning are current for all provinces due to a trough that links to low pressure that is developing between Makira and Temotu province,” he said.
He said that the low is developing and the Solomon Island Meteorological Service through Weather forecasting is currently closely monitoring its development.
“It has just developed and therefore we are currently monitoring its development,” he said.
He confirmed to ENVIRONMENT MEDIA that this bad weather is expected to be experienced in the coming days and would affect most parts of the country.
Meanwhile, the SI MET services has advised people living within these areas to take precautionary measures as such bad weather might have great impacts on lives and property.
According to the a statement by MET issued this evening the strong wind warning is current for most provinces due low-pressure system located near Temotu province.
“People living within these areas and sea travelers have been urged to consider safety at this time,” according the MET statement.
The SI MET services has issued a heavy rain warning number five at 7 pm this evening and a strong wind warning number four as of 4 pm this evening, Sunday 5 February 2023.
