THE Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Explosive Ordnance Disposal Department (EODD) will conduct a Render Safe Procedure (RSP) operation to dispose of a live bomb found in the Vilu area, North West Guadalcanal, on 22 August 2024. The operation will be active from 9am to 2pm.

Acting Director of the EODD, Inspector Clifford Tunuki, has issued a safety warning to the public in the Vilu, Doma, Aruligo, and surrounding areas. “Workers, farmers, hunters, and the general public are kindly warned to keep out of the area while the operation is in progress,” Inspector Tunuki stated.

He emphasized that safe evacuations and roadblocks will be enforced during the operation, urging the local communities to cooperate with the police to ensure the operation is safely completed. “The tasks will be carried out only on the specified date and times, and the communities are asked to support the Police to ensure everything is completed in a timely manner,” Inspector Tunuki added.

Mr. Tunuki also reminded the public to continue reporting any sightings of unexploded ordnance. Reports can be made through the Police free toll line 999, the RSIPF EODD mobile number 7495215, or by contacting the nearest police station.
