World Tsunami Day Successfully Marked in Honiara

THE World Tsunami day was successfully marked with style today Friday 5th at the National Disaster Management office in east Honiara.

The World Tsunami day is marked every year on fifth (5th) of November.

This year’s event which starts at 10 am today Friday 5th and ends at 4pm is aimed to promoting and provide awareness about Tsunami hazard and how government through its responsible ministry can respond in time of any Tsunami event.

The national disaster office through its line division has today organized an exhibition for students and participants who were part of the awareness program.

The main program include display of Tsunami awareness materials to the public and students and awareness talks.

The National disaster management office through its line division, the Solomon Islands meteorological office collaborate to stage the program.

The theme for 2021 World Tsunami day is ‘making cities resilient 2030 effective international cooperation to reduce Tsunami risk at the local level.
