Sape Farm, a prominent agricultural and agribusiness development company in Guadalcanal and the Solomon Islands, has officially launched its state-of-the-art Pack House, marking a significant milestone.

The Pack House will revolutionize local farmers by enabling them to meet international standards and access new markets, exemplifying how vision, hard work, and partnership can transform communities.

Speaking at the event, Honourable Minister for Health and Medical Services and owner of Sape Farm, Dr. Paul Bosowai, expressed his joy.

Dr. Paul Popora Bosawai, the Minister of Health and Medical Services, is also the MP for North Guadalcanal.

“I am very excited and happy that finally the Sape Pack House is launched,” Dr. Bosowai said. “This facility is for the people. It is a community development initiative through a public-private partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture.”

Dr. Bosowai thanked all partners who supported the journey.

“I would like to thank the Solomon Islands Government through the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Australian Government through Strongim Bisnis for the great partnership with Sape Farm,” he said.

Solomon Islands’ first-ever cassava export pack-house—a facility worth $9.7 million.

The Sape Pack House is a modern post-harvest facility designed to help local farmers improve the quality and handling of their produce, especially cassava. It will strengthen the agricultural value chain, ensure food safety, and open up formal market access both locally and overseas.

“We are producing four products – frozen cassava tubers and grated cassava for export, cassava flour, and cassava millrun for piggery businesses,” explained Dr. Bosowai.

The launch event was more than just the opening of a building. It was a celebration of what collaboration can achieve.

“This is a new chapter for Solomon Islands agriculture,” Dr. Bosowai said. “It shows what we can accomplish when government, development partners, the private sector, and farming communities work together.”
