Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock appointed New Director of Communication and Information

The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAL) is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Sharon Nanau as the new Director of Communication and Information.

Ms. Nanau holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism and Politics from the University of the South Pacific, Laucala Campus in Fiji. After completing her studies in 2019, she joined the Solomon Islands Broadcasting Corporation (SIBC) in 2020, where she dedicated six years of service to public media.

During her time at SIBC, Ms. Nanau progressed steadily through the ranks from a cadet journalist to her most recent role as SIBC TV News Producer. Her professional experience, leadership qualities, and passion for communication have equipped her with the skills necessary to lead MAL’s communication and information initiatives.

Ms. Nanau joined MAL as of 10th December with a three years contract.

During the ministry’s end of year gathering last Friday 12th of December, Minister MAL Hon. Franklyn Derek Wasi welcomed Ms. Nanau to the ministry as its new director for communication and information.

“I am indeed pleased to welcome you to the MAL family more so as the new director for the communication and information unit because, we have been without a director for several years now”, Minister Wasi said.

“Communication is vital to stay connected to our stakeholders and the general public. It is the medium for better understanding each other especially the roles of the ministry and the many efforts it is making to improve our agriculture sector. It is in this regard that I welcome you warmly to the ministry”, said Minister Wasi.

In accepting her new role, Ms. Nanau stated, “In taking up this role, I hope to meet the expectations required of me.”

The Ministry congratulates Ms. Nanau on her appointment and looks forward to her contributions in strengthening communication efforts across the agriculture and livestock sectors.
