Minister WASI Announces $30,000 Gold Sponsorship for YECSI Awards 2025

The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAL) has proudly announced its commitment of $30,000 as a gold sponsorship for the second YECSI Awards 2025.

This announcement was made by Minister Hon. Franklyn Derek Wasi during the signing ceremony, reaffirming the government’s dedication to supporting young agri-business entrepreneurs across the Solomon Islands.

“We are very pleased to be supporting this prestigious event,” said Minister Wasi. “We recognize the critical role that YECSI plays among our young entrepreneurs, especially in the drive to make agriculture attractive to our young people starting with the agri-business sector.”

The $30,000 sponsorship marks another milestone in the MAL and YECSI partnership, which has already seen significant collaboration through initiatives such as the Cocoa and Coconut Revolving Fund (CCRF) and a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) focused on enhancing market linkages and strengthening agri-food supply systems. The partnership aims to empower youth-led agribusiness initiatives and support community-based agricultural enterprises.

The Young Entrepreneurs Council of Solomon Islands will host the YECSI Awards event in Honiara on November 13th, 2025.

In his thank you remarks, Limahl Totogi, Chairman of YECSI, expressed gratitude for the support, stating, “The signing of this gold sponsorship is a significant milestone for the 2025 YECSI Awards, scheduled for the 13th of November 2025. This event serves as a platform to celebrate and recognize the achievements, innovation, and resilience of young entrepreneurs across the Solomon Islands. It is an opportunity to spotlight emerging leaders and inspire the next generation, promoting youth-led economic growth.”

With this sponsorship Mr. Totogi said, the Agri-Business Award of the Year 2025 naming rights has now been branded to the ministry of agriculture and livestock. He announced that it will now be called, ‘MAL Agri-Business Award of the Year 2025.’

“The 2025 YECSI Awards is set to be a flagship event that highlights the remarkable contributions of young entrepreneurs in the productive sector, fostering innovation and inspiring future leaders,” the YECSI Chairman explained.
