GIZO TOWN Council is looking forward to take delivery of new three-ton garbage truck, thanks to the Australian Government.
The vehicle is funded by the Australian Government with support from the UN Women to assist with the Western Solomon’s headquarters’ Garbage collection.
“Handover ceremony will be on 13th June in Gizo, and the Australian High Commissioner will be attending as Guest of Honor” Gizo Town Clerk Charles Kelly said.
“I’m looking forward to it, as a dream come true for Gizo Town, in Giving back to the people and community, especially vendors.” He added.
“I acknowledged the Australian Government for continuing giving funds to support western province.”
The new vehicle will improve Garbage collection in the Town as part and parcel of ongoing waste management.
Gizo has been zoned, and the Town Council already contracted two contractors with three vehicles for solid waste collection in the town.
The Town Clerk said the new vehicle is for the main market and Banana Valley community market.
